the short version
At roughly the same price, the question is whether you want a tracker or a receipt. Otterly tracks. unbound geo hands you the answer text and the method behind the number.
If you want a low cost tracker and nothing else, they are a reasonable choice and closer to our price than most.
Very close on paper. Both are AI search visibility tools priced for small and mid-sized teams, both track brand mentions across engines, and both are affordable enough that the decision is not really a budget one. Anyone choosing between these two is choosing on what arrives at the end, not on category or cost.

No scoring matrix and no weighted rubric. Most of these decisions turn on one fact about how you work, so the honest format is a list of facts and what each one implies.

Every line above points at exactly one option, including the ones that point away from us. A decision guide where every branch ends at the same product is not a guide, it is a funnel with headings.
Chiefly in what you receive. Otterly presents metrics; unbound geo puts the full answer text on the report with the prompt, engine, model and date, and publishes the scoring algorithm, the weights and the confidence test including their limits. Both track AI search visibility for small and mid-sized teams at a similar price.
They are close. unbound geo starts at 19 USD a month with a free scan that needs no card; our market notes from July 2026 put Otterly from around 29 USD a month, though we have not used them and pricing moves. At this range the price difference should not decide it.
A great deal. We measured a provider index return 2,420 mentions for an ordinary-word brand name while the same brand domain returned zero on the same query, a three order-of-magnitude gap of pure noise. unbound geo matches whole words and domains, never substrings, and applies strict matching when a name is flagged as a common word. We do not know how Otterly handles this case.
unbound geo maps every finding to a probable cause and the discipline that addresses it, and says out of scope when the cause is not something a scan or a growth team can resolve. Otterly, as far as we can see, is a tracker; the interpretation is yours.
On unbound geo, yes. The scoring algorithm, the intent weights, the position decay, the valence scale and the t-distribution confidence test are all published at /method, and every figure in a report opens to the cell that produced it with its match method and confidence. We have not found a comparable published method on their side.
Pricing noted for Otterly.AI: From around 29 USD a month, per our own market notes. Pricing changes and we do not monitor theirs, so check their site.
